Why I Personally Prefer Filming Weddings

As a wedding videographer based in Topeka, Kansas I have also photographed several weddings which I have enjoyed doing. Then I discovered that I could film weddings which I started to enjoy much more. I feel like with video it fits my personality much better. I’m still allowed to be creative and interact with the couples but I’m not solely directing the timeline of the day that the photographer open has to do. I enjoy being able to jump in when I have an idea for a shot or take time during couple portraits to do the fun shot that I enjoy in a wedding film. I have more freedom to get b roll and candid moments of the wedding party and guests as well as the atmosphere of the wedding day. Being able to capture the movements, sounds and movements is what is so great when you have a videographer. Photos freeze a moment—but video lets you hear your vows, your dad’s speech, and the laughter you didn’t even notice on the day. It’s also great to collaborate with the photographers making sure we each get the images and video throughout the day. I will photograph weddings everyone once in a while if a friend or family member recommends me video fits me better when it comes to weddings.
